Two days after the Blue Devils final scrimmage, the season has begun. Poly welcomes the Farrell Lions to Harlow Parker Field for this out of league match-up. Farrell took a 1-0 lead but the Blue Devils bats answered taking a 2-1 lead. The Poly defense failed today as the fielders were making error after error. After taking a 6-2 lead because of J.J. Franco’s stellar pitching Poly couldn’t hold on. Richie Carbone took the mound for the 5th inning, hits along with 4 Errors in the 5th inning allowed Farrell to score 6 runs and put the game away. A total of 11 errors in the field for the Blue Devils proved to be unacceptable. Farrell escaped with the 8-6 win. Hopefully the Blue Devils can leave their first game jitters behind because they have CHSAA powerhouse Moore Catholic next on the schedule. As the team will have the weekend to practice, Coach Roventini will be looking to get the team ready. Richie Carbone will take the mound
